Truck driver escapes major injuries after flipping his rig

The driver of a semi escaped with minor injuries after flipping his rig on Highway 33 Tuesday.

The incident happened at at round 8 a.m. about 10 kilometres south of Big White Road. Police say the southbound semi was loaded with wood chips and failed to negotiate a sharp curve.

Some diesel fuel leaked onto the road and was cleaned up by the Joe Rich fire department with some help from a forestry crew which happened to stumble upon the scene.  Damage to the truck is extensive.

The impact also took out a large section of guardrail.

Police have yet to interview the driver but say speed would appear to be a factor.
