The city plans to keep part of the course as a recreational space, and sell most of the land for commercial and industrial development.

A group of golfers who use the force launched a petition to try and keep it open, and have joined up with a group called ‘Communities First Society’ which is made up of six council candidates.

“Their group is all about preserving green space, ours is all about preserving the golf course for everybody in north Calgary,” explains Ron Congram, from the Save McCall Lake group. “These candidates have pledged to help reverse the decision made by council behind closed doors…without any public input prior to the decision.”
