A man has been arrested after a fatal shooting in Terrace, B.C. Saturday afternoon.

Mounties were called to the Thornhill area at around 1 p.m. where they found one man dead and a woman injured.

The victim has now been identified as 27-year-old Eric Maurice Cardinal. He was the subject of a police plea for help earlier this year, and was wanted on assault and theft charges. Police asked for help finding him, but issued a warning that Cardinal was to be considered armed and dangerous.

Police said both victims had gunshot wounds.

The woman, 29, was taken to hospital and is in serious, but non-life-threatening condition. She is now in stable condition.

The man arrested, 29-year-old Travis Leslie Stephens, was known to the victims and all individuals are known to police. Mounties found Stephens hiding down an embankment after fleeing the scene.
