Vernon’s Sparkling Hill Resort has postponed their anticipated March grand opening.
The 22,400m2 (240,000 sq.ft.) resort will now open April 30th, delayed by unforeseen difficulties of bringing in large and unique structural components from Europe, according to CEO Hans-Peter Mayr.
“We are very excited to bring this resort to the world. This short delay will enable us to deliver the quality and exceptionally unique hotel that we have been planning and visioning for so long,” assures Mayr.
Construction began less than two years ago and has seen more than 350 local tradesmen working around the clock to meet the deadline.
The resort project is estimated to come in at the budgeted $100 million, with the construction permit the highest ever issued by the city of Vernon.
Ten percent of the building cost is dedicated to elements of Swarovski Crystal – from chandeliers to tiles, fireplaces and displays.
The luxury hotel will have 152 guest rooms and a wellness area hosting the cold sauna as well as a trio of therapeutic pools and seven uniquely different saunas as well as 48 treatment rooms offering a variety of treatments like massages and facials.
The resort is accepting reservations for May 20, 2010 and beyond.
