“She died in hospital after her vehicle was struck by a vehicle fleeing OPP early this morning,” the SIU said in a tweet.
She was identified by investigators as 21-year-old Shellome Peart.
The SIU said a parallel investigation is being conducted by the OPP in terms of the investigation into the driver that fled and the SIU is investigating the officer’s involvement before the subsequent crash occurred.
