George Smitherman’s husband reported missing

TORONTO – Police are asking the public’s help in finding 39-year-old Christopher Peloso, who went missing Monday afternoon.

Peloso is married to George Smitherman, Ontario’s former Minister of Health and former mayoral candidate. They have two children.

Peloso was last seen at 4 p.m. Monday near Davenport Road and Bathurst Street. He’s described as white, 5’8”, 150 pounds with short brown hair and brown eyes. He was wearing a dark-blue jacket with a hood, cargo shorts and blue flip-flops according to police.

Police are concerned for his safety.

Smitherman issued a brief statement Tuesday afternoon:

“I regret to confirm that Christopher Peloso has been missing from our home for almost 24 hours,” the statement read. “Michael, Kayla and myself, with the support of family and friends, are hopeful that our husband and father will be home safely soon.”

And Transportation Minister Glen Murray sent a tweet asking for anyone who had seen Peloso to contact police.
