ELLIOT LAKE, Ont. – The head of a heavy search and rescue team that responded to last summer’s mall collapse in Elliot Lake, Ontario is expected on the witness stand today.
Inspector Bill Neadles is to discuss the team’s efforts at the judicial inquiry into the collapse that killed two women.

Neadles shocked the community when he announced the rescue effort had been called off two days after the roof-top garage crashed into the mall.
Witnesses have testified about the dangerous state of the building.
However, many residents believed there were still people alive in the rubble and demanded the rescue resume.
The search did continue hours later — after a phone call with the premier.
