West Shore RCMP searched the area Friday night, but could not find the men.

Sgt. Scott Braes with West Shore RCMP said they had to set up roadblocks and called in extra resources to track the men down in what he calls a very rare prison break.

He said the escape was possible because the William Head Institution is bordered by the ocean on one side. The escapees were able to wander around the facility down to the water’s edge and under the cover of darkness, swim approximately 200 yards to an area beyond fencing.
