Emergency crews retrieved the body after police responded to a report of an object floating in the water around 2:40 p.m. Wednesday.

The body was taken to the medical examiner’s office where an autopsy was scheduled for Thursday.

The case has been assigned to the Halifax Regional Police VICE unit, which is tasked with investigating missing persons.

Police are asking anybody who thinks they can identify the remains or with information about the case to come forward.
