More than 100 new Vancouver students could miss their first day of school due to labour dispute between the federal government and striking diplomats.

Foreign students across the province are facing visa processing delays because of the dispute.

Some school boards say many new students have already missed their first day of orientation; which was held yesterday.

The problems could have an effect on much-needed revenues for the school board.

Foreign families pay an average of $13,000 per student in B.C. with more than 1,300 of the 55,000 students in Vancouver being foreign, it generates close to $17 million a year.
