SASKATOON – Third Avenue United Church is set to be sold.

The unified board for the church accepted a bid on Thursday to sell the downtown fixture.

John Orr headed up the successful bid on behalf of a non-profit corporation.

The River Bend Presbytery executive supports the bid and has given approval to move forward with the sale.

Third Avenue Centre was the only other group to bid on the landmark building.

They had originally asked to purchase the building over a two-year time frame.

That bid was rejected, launching a new bidding process.

The sale is expected to be finalized by the end of September pending negotiations of a lease agreement.
