TORONTO – Doug Holyday was officially sworn in as a member of provincial parliament at Queen’s Park Thursday.

Holyday won an August 1 byelection in Etobicoke-Lakeshore where he ran against fellow city councillor Peter Milczyn.

Opponents criticized Hudak and his Tories failure to pick up more than one riding during the five byelections but Holyday’s win in Etobicoke-Lakeshore was hailed as a significant victory – it was the Progressive Conservatives’ first win in Toronto since 1999.
