TORONTO — A school bookkeeper’s understanding, loving approach is being hailed as heroic after she talked down a would-be school shooter in Georgia.

On a 911 recording, Antoinette Tuff negotiates with the dispatcher and the police on the behalf of Michael Brandon Hill, a 20-year-old man with a history of mental health issues. Tuff eventually convinced Hill to put down his arms and surrender.

Hill went to the school armed with an AK 47-style rifle and nearly 500 rounds of ammunition, police said.
