Man killed in motorcycle collision on Edmonton’s Yellowhead Trail

A 24-year-old man is dead following a motorcycle collision in northeast Edmonton Wednesday morning.

Police said officers were called to the collision in the area of Yellowhead Trail and Fort Road at about 10:50 a.m.

A grey Honda motorcycle was heading west on the Yellowhead when the driver lost control and struck a pole, according to police.

The 24-year-old man riding the motorcycle was taken to hospital, but police said he died of his injuries.

Speed is believed to be a factor, the EPS said.

Yellowhead Trail westbound was reduced to one lane at Fort Road Wednesday afternoon, and the onramp from Fort Road to the Yellowhead westbound was closed.

Drivers are asked to find another route for the afternoon rush if possible.
