The meeting comes after the government committed to entrench the rights of victims of crime to give them a more effective voice in the criminal and corrective systems.

“The input we receive from consultations like these across the country will be critical in guiding the development of federal legislation that will recognize and protect the rights of victims,” MacKay said in a release.

The government will use the input expressed at the consultations towards enhancing victims’ rights in Canada.

MacKay will also address attendees Monday afternoon at the annual Canadian Bar Association Legal Conference being held in Saskatoon.
