Vancouver Canucks fans sing an ode to Roberto Luongo

Vancouver Canucks fans have come together to create a fan video for Roberto Luongo.

Called Big Old Goal, the description on the video says this “is a song of healing for NHL netminder Roberto Luongo”.

Created in part by freelance blogger Harrison Mooney, the song is inspired by the hit medley We Are the World.

Mooney said he and a group of friends were hanging out one day when the idea for the song came up. He then wrote the lyrics with Brian Binnema and enlisted the help of local bloggers and fans to help create the project.

“This whole situation has gotten pretty ridiculous,” said Mooney, about the hype surrounding Luongo’s future and Schneider’s trade. “We felt what [Luongo] needed was a song of healing.”

Luongo even makes a brief cameo in the video.

“We reached out to him on Twitter,” said Mooney. “As soon as the song was finished, we sent it to [Luongo] and he said he’d send something back of him grooving to it.”

In one day the video already has more than 26,000 views.

“The response has been amazing,” said Mooney. “It’s been a lot of fun.”
