SHUSWAP, B.C. — Crews are making progress on a new wildfire in the Shuswap.
The one hectare blaze is burning 5 km’s east of Herald Provincial Park on the north side of Sunnybrae Canoe Point Road in the Tappen area.

It’s said to be burning along the forest floor with low intensity.
The Columbia Shuswap Regional District says the closest homes are within 400 meters but the fire has not been burning in their direction.
The fire was started by a lightning strike last night.
