SASKATOON – Weather cooperated for around 3,500 attendees as the 16th annual John Arcand Fiddle Fest wrapped up just southwest of Saskatoon on Sunday.

The four day festival provided affordable family fun and saw hundreds take part in free fiddle workshops, jigging competitions and cultural camp.

The best of 26 jiggers and 51 fiddling competitors ended up taking home $10,000 in prizes.

The Master of the Métis Fiddle, John Arcand, founded the festival in 1998 and it has growth into a widely acclaimed stage for seasoned and emerging fiddlers.

The festival has a strong Métis theme, but also invites musicians and dancers from all cultures to jam together in a live performing environment.

Organizers say festivities went fabulously and competitor numbers were significantly higher than previous years.
