Firefighters are battling a massive blaze that broke out in an industrial park here early Tuesday.
Emergency officials responded to the fire at Archmill House Inc., a cabinet manufacturing plant at 3 a.m., Hamilton police spokeswoman Sgt. Terri-Lynn Colllings said.
Reports said as many as seventy firefighters were battling the three-alarm fire, which broke out in the city’s west-end.
"We have a low-line fog in the escarpment which is keeping the smoke very low to the ground," said Collings. "We are asking residents in the vicinity of the fire to keep their windows closed and to not go outside."
A few of the surrounding roads have been closed, as well as a section of nearby Highway 6, emergency officials said.
Officials also said it will likely be a number of hours before the fire is extinguished.
No one was injured in the blaze and an assessment of damage is not yet available.
Ancaster is about 80 kilometres southwest of Toronto.
