A London man is facing charges after being arrested by police on two separate occasions this week.

The first encounter came around 11:55 Monday night. Officers were contacted by security staff at an underground parking lot in the 300 block of Adelaide Street North about a man breaking into vehicles.

Citizens detained the suspect until police arrived and arrested the man. Police say a vehicle sustained minor damage, and they found stolen property after searching the suspect.

A 38-year-old London man has been charged with one count of theft under $5,000, and one count of mischief under $5,000.

Police say about an hour after the accused was released on Tuesday, security staff at the same underground parking lot observed him entering a vehicle.

The suspect attempted to flee from the area but was taken into custody nearby.

Police say the vehicle the man had entered, a 2000 grey Dodge Neon, was reported stolen.

As a result of the second investigation, the accused has also been charged with one count of possession of property obtained by crime under $5,000.

The accused has a court appearance Friday to answer to the charges.
