Coast guard divers recovered the body of a 60-year-old, male scuba diver in the waters near Domville Island Sunday afternoon.
The man was part of a group of seven divers who were conducting a recreational dive with a chartered company in the waters about five kilometres east of Sidney, on Vancouver Island. He was first reported missing at 1 p.m.
Victoria Joint Rescue Coordination Centre dispatched a helicopter to search the waters, which was assisted by another U.S. Coast Guard helicopter and a Canadian coast guard boat and hovercraft.
Coast guard divers recovered the man’s body around 4 p.m.
The man’s body was turned over to the Sidney RCMP and the coroner’s office. His name has not been released.
RCMP continue to investigate.
