TORONTO – Severe thunderstorms that produced several reports of tornadoes tore across parts of Southern Ontario Wednesday evening.
The thunderstorms began around the rush hour. Environment Canada issued several thunderstorm watches for north of the GTA in parts of cottage country.
Some of the cells intensified and there were several reports of tornadoes north and west of the GTA. A tornado was spotted in Arthur as well as Orillia.
The line of storms that produced the severe weather headed east around 8 p.m. Thunderstorm watches remain in place for the GTA as well as across Southern Ontario.
