Wellington County OPP say a man suffered life-threatening injuries following a crash between a transport truck and a delivery van just outside of Guelph on Wednesday morning.

Emergency crews were called to the intersection of Highway 7 and Woolwich-Guelph Townline at 9 a.m.

“Both vehicles were travelling westbound when they came into contact,” Const. Kirk MacDonald told Global News.

He said one of the drivers suffered life-threatening injuries, while the other driver was transported to a local hospital with minor injuries.

ORNGE Air Ambulance confirmed it responded and airlifted a man in his 30s to a hospital in Hamilton.

Highway 7 was closed between Wellington Road 32 and Shantz Station Road for the investigation. It’s unclear how long the road closure will last.

“It’s too early to tell what exactly occurred,” MacDonald said, while noting the weather and road conditions did not appear to be a factor.

Any witnesses or anyone with dashcam video who was in the area is asked to contact investigators.
