Terror suspects accused of planting pressure-cooker bombs at the B.C. Legislature during Canada Day festivities made a brief court appearance this morning.

The accused — 38-year-old John Nuttall and 28-year-old Amanda Korody —  appeared healthier and more alert than during their last court appearance on July 9. They both went cold turkey on methadone when they were taken into custody.

Breaking news from Canada and around the world sent to your email, as it happens.

Last month, Nuttall was moved to the Colony Farm psychiatric hospital in Coquitlam, where he remains hospitalized.

It is not clear if Korody has also been committed to a psychiatric hospital.

The couple is now due in court on September 20, at which time Crown will ask for a fixed trial date.

However, Nuttall’s lawyer is expected to ask for another extension at that point.

If convicted, the couple could face life in prison.

They are facing numerous terrorism-related charges, including knowingly facilitating a terrorist activity and making or having in possession an explosive substance with intent to endanger life or cause serious damage to property.
