Friends identify man killed in Forest Lawn stabbing

CALGARY – Police have laid charges in a suspicious death in Forest Lawn over the long weekend.

Police were called to the 3900 block of 17th Avenue S.E. around 10:30 p.m. on Saturday, after a man with knife wounds stumbled in to a Tim Hortons.

He was rushed to the Foothills Hospital in critical condition but later died of his injuries.

Investigators believe that a drug-related altercation had taken place before the victim’s death.

On Tuesday, police announced they had charged 34-year-old Judah Diew Long with manslaughter, but say the charge could potential be upgraded later on.

Global News has learned that John MacPhearson of Calgary was the man stabbed to death.

MacPhearson is Calgary’s 16th murder victim of the year.
