The RCMP Major Crimes Unit has been brought in to help Crowsnest Pass RCMP investigate the deaths of two people found in a home Friday morning.
In a news release issued Friday night, Crowsnest Pass RCMP said officers were called to a home at 7:55 a.m. when someone called 911 to report a suspicious death. Inside the residence, they found a man and a woman, both of whom were already dead.
Police confirmed to Global News on Saturday morning the home is located in Coleman, Alta., but did not give further details.
“Preliminary investigation indicates that there is no risk to the public and the RCMP feel that this is an isolated incident,” police said.
On Tuesday, RCMP said autopsies determined the woman, who was 40 at the time of her death, died as the result of homicide, while the man, who was 55, died by suicide.
“The two subjects resided together in the residence,” a news release said.
RCMP said no charges will be laid and the names of the deceased won’t be released to the public.
