Gunman allegedly shoots at police

Police have charged a man with attempted murder after he allegedly fired several shots at officers who had arrived in the area to investigate a shooting.

Police were called to the Driftwood Court area early Saturday at 12:20 a.m. because someone had fired a bullet through the window of a townhouse. No one was injured.

While they were on the scene, a gunman shot at them from a nearby apartment building, police say.

A man fled from the building. He tossed a firearm while running from the officers who eventually caught up with the man and arrested

him. Police allege that he had ammunition on him.

Abshir Abdirashid, 19, of Toronto is charged with a number of weapons related offences as well as two counts of attempted murder.

The investigation is ongoing.
