WEST KELOWNA, B.C. — They put their lives in danger every time a wildfire breaks out in the Okanagan and are usually the first on scene. They are the helicopter pilots who you see bobbing into Okanagan Lake and hustling to the fire scene — dropping hundreds of gallons to keep the fire from spreading. It’s a job that has its perks and but is also very stressful. Kelly Hayes takes a look at a day in the life of the helicopter pilot who fights wildfires from the sky.
