Her resolute commitment to telling ethno-diverse stories is apparent in the compelling body of work that she has either appeared in or produced.
A celebrated actress, Ngozi has been described as bringing “electricity to all her roles” (NOW Magazine), and has achieved accolades for her gripping performances on both the stage and screen. She was named one of Toronto’s “˜Top Ten Actors’ by NOW Magazine, and was nominated for “˜Best Actress’ at U.K’s Black International Film Festival for her powerful performance as Susan in Bayan. On the stage, Ngozi is a proud recipient of Stratford Festival’s “˜Tyrone Guthrie Award’ and was praised for her portrayal of the young Nelson Mandela in Michael Miller’s play In the Freedom of Dreams. Most recently, Ngozi appeared in Talk to Me with Don Cheadle and was named Reelworld Film Festival’s “˜Trailblazer’.
As an award-winning producer Ngozi has been called “a strong force, using her artistic voice to push boundaries,” (24 News). She was an integral member of the original creative team of Canada’s first Black Sitcom, Lord Have Mercy!, which was nominated for two Gemini Awards including best comedic series. As Vice-President of Production and Development for Wilbo Entertainment, Ngozi was pleased to be the co-producer of the landmark television event, The Tonya Lee Williams Gospel Jubilee, which aired on the CBC in March of 2004.
As the founder and President of Ngozika Productions, a dynamic and cutting edge company, Ngozi has created diverse content, including the short film, SHADES. Ngozika productions produced the Canadian Urban Music Awards, a star-studded, exhilarating concert and awards show, which aired on SunTV. Paul also produced Urban X-Posure for CanWest Media, which aired on Global in 2007 and included incredible performances by such well-known Canadian artists as Jully Black, Kardinal Offishall, K-OS, and Keisha Chante. Currently, Ngozika Productions is shooting the highly anticipated second season of “˜da Kink in my Hair for Canwest/Global. Ngozika Productions has several projects in development, including an innovative web-based series to be launched in early 2009 and its debut Feature Film.
