People in Delta are annoyed with the deafening sounds of blueberry field cannons and are calling on the berry farmers to use them less often.
Farms use loud propane fueled devices to keep birds away from their berry crops.
But the noise is irritating people who live nearby.
They say the constant blasts disrupt their quality of life.
BC Ministry of Agriculture guidelines allow cannons to be used between 6:30 a.m. and 8 p.m.
By law, farmers are allowed to deploy the devices every five minutes for 14 hours a day, with a break from noon to 3.
They must be 300 meters from any residential property.
Various studies show that cannons are not as effective as other methods of controlling birds and residents want to see some changes to how they are used.
