Delta city councillors will decide today whether the controversial Southlands development proposal will go to a public hearing.
The current plan calls for 950 homes on 45 hectares with other space dedicated to public farms and parks.

The use of the land has been a focus of public discussion and source of contention for more than 30 years.
The site is zoned agricultural but isn’t protected farmland in the agricultural reserve.
A final vote following the public hearing will decide if the project proceeds.
