TORONTO — Joseph L. Rotman has been reappointed chair of the Canada Council for the Arts for another five-year term.
The announcement was made Monday by Shelly Glover, Minister of Canadian Heritage and Official Languages.
“His leadership and wealth of experience in corporate and public governance are an asset to the council,” said Glover, in a statement.
Rotman, 78, was appointed chair of the Canada Council for the Arts in 2008. A renowned philanthropist, he is chair of private family investment company Roy-L Capital Corporation and chancellor of Western University in London, Ont.
The Rotman School of Management at the University of Toronto was named in his honour.
The Canada Council for the Arts is a Crown corporation created in 1957 to fund and promote the arts.
