Suspect charged with attempted murder after man stabbed downtown Toronto

Toronto police say a man has been charged with attempted murder after another man was seriously injured in a stabbing downtown.

Emergency crews were called to the Church Street and Wellesley Street East area at around 3:30 a.m. on Thursday where a man was found with multiple stab wounds to his upper body.

Police said the 40-year-old man was involved in an “altercation” with numerous people and was stabbed several times.

He was transported to hospital with serious but non-life-threatening injuries.

Investigators said 20-year-old Zelt Felix was later arrested.

Felix was charged with attempted murder, aggravated assault, assault with a weapon, and three counts of failing to comply with a release order.

He is scheduled to appear in a Toronto court on Friday.

Police are asking anyone who may have witnessed the incident or have information to call investigators at 416-808-5100 or Crime Stoppers anonymously at 416-222-8477.
