Correction: This article previously said students were infected. The release did not say who in the schools tested positive.
The Saskatchewan Health Authority (SHA) has declared COVID-19 outbreaks at two Saskatoon schools.
The outbreaks were declared Saturday at Marion M. Graham Collegiate and Tommy Douglas Collegiate.
The release also said a single person at another high school, Centennial Collegiate, also tested positive.
Saskatoon Public Schools said the SHA informed them of two positive cases at Marion M. Graham Collegiate on Saturday.
Outbreak at Tommy Douglas Collegiate
Saskatoon Public Schools says it was notified of a COVID-19 case at Tommy Douglas Collegiate on Saturday.
“This is the second positive case at the school, the first was identified on Oct. 18,” said the school division in a press release.
Communication about the outbreak has been shared with the impacted classrooms at the school, says Saskatoon Public Schools.
Classes will continue as scheduled on Tuesday.
Case at Centennial Collegiate
Saskatoon Public Schools also said there’s a single case of COVID-19 at Centennial Collegiate.
Contact tracing is underway.
At this time, the school board says classes are not cancelled.
The SHA declares outbreaks when two or more people test positive for COVID-19 in a non-household setting. It is not necessarily an indicator of risk to the public, says the SHA.
