TORONTO – Halton is expanding the number of red light cameras across the region.
Five new red light cameras will be installed in Burlington, Halton Hills, Milton and Oakville and will be operational by the end of the summer.
There are only two red light cameras in the region right now but city officials say the next five will serve “strategic intersections” throughout the region.

• 10 Side Road and Ninth Line, Town of Halton Hills
• Derry Road and Trafalgar Road, Town of Milton
• Trafalgar Road and Leighland Avenue, Town of Oakville
• Trafalgar Road and Upper Middle Road, Town of Oakville
Halton officials said in a press release issued Tuesday that almost half of surveyed drivers in the region worry about getting into an accident while driving through intersections and more than 60 per cent reported seeing a near-miss.
The current fine for running a red light is $325.
