Buckwold ordered to undergo psychiatric assessment

SASKATOON – The son of a prominent Saskatoon lawyer has been ordered to undergo a psychiatric assessment after being charged with the murder of his father.

Ian Buckwold, 64, was found dead on July 14 in Emma Lake.

His son, 31-year-old Alvin Buckwold, was arrested and charged with second-degree murder.

At a court appearance on Tuesday, he was ordered to undergo the 30 day assessment to determine if he is fit to stand trial.

Buckwold has also been ordered to undergo toxicology screening.

His next court appearance is on Aug. 20 in Prince Albert.
