The extreme makeover of the Winnipeg Blue Bombers continues by the hour. The Bombers have traded Tom Canada to the Hamilton Tiger-Cats, reportedly for middle linebacker Zeke 'And Destroy' Moreno.

But as of 5 p.m. the veteran defensive end has balked at the move. The club would not confirm the move, saying only that 'they were in discussions with Hamilton but no deal has been completed as of yet.'

"It looks like they're getting rid of me, man," Canada told The Free Press. "It's Hamilton, but as of this point I'm refusing the trade because I've got better things to do than go to Hamilton and lose more games.

"I don't know if I'm allowed to do this. I'm not sure what I'm doing yet. I still haven't figured it out and I'm getting calls from everywhere and everyone giving me a million different reasons as to why I should do this or why I should do that.

"I don't know… it's just a weird time. I really don't know where I'm at."

The move, if it can be completed, would be the second blockbuster in a week — coming less than a week after Charles Roberts was shipped to the B.C. Lions for Joe Smith. And the Bombers weren't done, shipping the rights to defensive lineman Corey Mace — their first pick in the 2007 Canadian Draft — to the Ticats for future considerations while adding defensive end/linebacker Kai Ellis, dumped on the weekend by the Montreal Alouettes. Mace is currently on the Buffalo Bills' practice roster.

Moreno has agreed to report to the Bombers and he would immediately fill the void left at middle linebacker with the injury suffered by Joe Lobendahn in Sunday's loss to the Saskatchewan Roughriders. Lobendahn was replacing Barrin Simpson, who is gone for the year with a torn pectoral muscle.
