Tim Butcher is the newest member to Global Saskatoon’s Sports Team. After studying communications in Vancouver, Tim originally began his broadcasting career back in his hometown of Calgary pushing buttons at the city’s all sports radio station. It wasn’t long before Tim’s strong communications skills and unique view on the sporting world were recognized. He was on the air reading sports news and sharing his opinions on Calgary’s NHL, CFL and WHL teams. Noting his strong presence on radio, Tim was asked to bring his unique and informative views on sports to the television screen. Working doing double duty as the late night sports anchor on television while working as a news reporter during the day for the city’s all news radio station was just the fast paced environment Tim thrives in.
Needing a change of pace from the big city and wanting to concentrate solely on television, Tim headed in the opposite direction of the traffic and left Calgary for Saskatoon. ” I have worked with and around many people who had previously worked here in Saskatoon and every single one of them had good things to say about the city’s sports scene and passionate fans. I knew that I would be comfortable making Saskatoon home.”
As soon as the season allows, Tim will be hitting every golf course in the area this spring perfecting his swing. “Needless to say I was extremely pleased to hear of the many quality golf courses in and around Saskatoon. Just another added bonus to this wonderful sporting community we have here.” In the past, Tim has worked with Kidsport and continues to do so here in Saskatoon. Kidsport is a children’s charity dedicated to assisting children of families facing financial obstacles to participate in community sport programs. Tim helps kidsport with their goal to provide these children with the opportunity to learn the fundamentals of teamwork, dedication and responsibility through participation in sport.
Watch for Tim reporting and Anchoring for Global Sports on The Evening News and News Final on Global Saskatoon. Catch him on Channel 4 Cable 3, Max 5, Bell Xpressview 236, and Star Choice 337.
