Take a look inside the TTC’s newest streetcar

TORONTO – Members of the media had a chance to ride the brand new Toronto Transit Commission (TTC) streetcars in broad daylight for the first time Tuesday morning.

The low-floor vehicles made its test run from the Hillcrest complex on Bathurst Street to Bathurst Subway Station and back.

The streetcars cost the city over $1 billion and will make their debut in 2014.

Earlier this year, the TTC took the Bombardier-built vehicles on several overnight rides to test out the wheels on the existing tracks.

The 204 new cars will be able to carry 251 passengers, load them at any door, have air conditioning and the installation of the new Presto fare card system.
