GERMAN CHOCOLATE CAKE
Cake:
1 Cup Butter
Cocoa Powder
Cup Hot Black Coffee
2 Sugar
1 Tbsp. Vanilla Extract
4 Large Eggs
3 Cups Flour
1 Tsp. Baking Soda
1 Cup Milk
Filling:
2 Cups Sugar Combine cocoa powder and coffee to make a smooth paste. Add milk, and set aside. In electric mixer with paddle attachment, cream butter and sugar until fluffy. Add eggs one at a time. Add vanilla. Alternately add flour, baking soda and chocolate milk mixture until combined. Butter and flour three, nine inch cake pans. Distribute evenly between three pans. Bake at 350 degrees Fahrenheit for 25 minutes, Or until a toothpick inserted comes out clean. Instructions for Filling: Combine water and sugar in sauce pan, cook until sugar has a medium amber colour. Remove from heat and slowly add cream. Return to heat, stirring constantly. Cook until mixture is combined and comes to a boil. Remove from heat, then add nuts and coconut. For Assembly: One layer of cake, 1/3 of caramel mixture, repeat until complete.
