Ward 5 is in the city’s northeast and includes the communities of Castleridge, Coral Springs, Falconridge, Horizon, Monterey Park, North Airways, Pineridge, Rundle, South Airways, Sunridge, Temple, Vista Heights and Whitehorn.
It is home to the Sunridge Mall, the Village Square Leisure Centre and the Peter Lougheed hospital.
FAST FACT: Ward 5 has the largest number of duplexes in the city.
Current Councillor: Ray Jones has represented the ward since 1993.
THE CANDIDATES
He is a recipient of the Governor General’s of Canada Award, the Queen’s Golden Jubilee Award for Community Service, the Alberta Centennial Metal and the Queen Elizabeth II Diamond Jubilee Medal.
His campaign platform includes creating livable communities with full amenities, spending less on low priority projects such as the Peace Bridge and more on needed projects such as the airport tunnel, and continued infrastructure investment.
