UFC – The Road To The Top For Krzysztof Soszyński

Hard training regiments are just a part of the life for a UFC fighter.  Winnipeg's Krzysztof Soszyński is back in the city getting in shape for a November bout against Croatian Goran Reljic at UFC 122.  But you won't catch Soszynski pumping iron.  In fact he tells me its been 6 years since he last touched a weight.  Instead  his trainer Jordan Cieciwa of Professional Edge in Winnipeg has him on a rigorous off the mat workout.  Running hills, plyometrics and so on.  Soszynski joked that I should join him for his workout but I politely took a pass in fear of needing CPR.  Cieciwa also trains MMA fighter Thierry Sokoudjou who is well know to most fans of the octagon.

With family still living here Soszynski gets back to Winnipeg about 4 or 5 times a year but will soon head back to Orange County to complete his training.   The 33-year-old has a 24-11-1 record and is currently ranked 25th in the world at light heavyweight.  Reljic will be a desperate fighter when the two meet up.  You see Reljic will probably be dropped by the UFC with another loss.   Soszynski himself is trying to get things back on track after a loss to Stephan Bonar.  After a 6 fight win streak Soszynski has now lost 2 of his last 3.  He says he's lost a lot of sleep since his last loss.  He had Bonar in trouble in the 1st round but let him recover and then took a devastating knee leading to Bonar's TKO victory.   Expect Soszynski to learn from his mistakes and this time finish Reljic if he gets the chance.
