Thirty firefighters and three helicopters are battling two forest fires side-by-side about 15 kilometers south of Hope.
The fires were sparked last Wednesday by lightning, according to Fire Information Officer Donna MacPherson.
The fires became visible Sunday and that’s when air tankers started dropping retardant in the area, which is in the Skagit Valley along Silverton Creek.
