A female traffic flagger has now been released from the hospital after being assaulted with a weapon on Wednesday, police confirmed.
Police said it happened around 2 p.m. near the intersection of 95A Avenue and 148 Street.
The flagger was conducting traffic in the area when she tried to stop a man on a bike from proceeding, police said. When he refused to listen to her, he attacked her.
The suspect fled the scene on a red mountain bike, according to police.
Mounties described the suspect as a heavy-set Caucasian man in his 30s who was wearing dark clothing and a baseball cap.
The suspect was not known to the victim, police said Thursday.
Anyone who sees a man matching the description, or who witnessed the incident or captured video of it, is urged to contact Surrey RCMP.
