Early morning fire destroys home north of Belleville, Ont.

An early morning blaze destroyed a home north of Belleville, Ont., on Bronk Road on Thursday.

Crews were called to the scene around 1:45 a.m.

According to the Belleville fire department, firefighters found the rear of the home fully engulfed in flames with heavy smoke.

Three crews from the Belleville fire department attended, along with tanker support from Tyendinaga Mohawk territory.

No injuries were reported. However, much of the building was destroyed, leaving a family of three without a home.

The damage is estimated at $400,000, the fire department says.

According to the fire department, the blaze began in the wall and the attic near the back deck of the home. The department says it suspects it was an electrical fire.

The fire is considered accidental but remains under investigation, according to the Belleville fire department.
