WATCH: Ernest Hemingway look-alike contest part of unique festival in Key West

More than 125 stocky, white-bearded men are gathered in Key West, Florida, competing in the “Papa” Hemingway look-alike contest.

The contest is part of the island’s annual Hemingway days festival, which honors the famed author who lived in Key West throughout the 1930’s.

Thursday evening’s contest at Sloppy Joe’s Bar is a preliminary round for the Ernest Hemingway look-alikes – the best looking “Papa” will be selected Saturday.

Hemingway days runs through Sunday, with events including an offbeat “running of the bulls”, a marlin tournament and a short story competition.

Hemingway wrote some of his most famous classics in key west, including “For Whom the Bell Tolls” and “Death in the Afternoon.”
