Facing charges related to a multi-million dollar fraud scandal, Ronald Weinberg, founder of the former Montreal animation company Cinar Corp., was arrested at Trudeau Airport Thursday evening and will appear in court Friday.

The 59-year-old had just returned from the Dominican Republic when he was arrested.

He’s been a fugitive since police issued an arrest warrant for him and three other men last week, all wanted in connection with the massive fraud.

Cinar’s former chief financial officer, Hasanain Panju, and Lino Matteo, former president of Mount Real, have already been arraigned.

Police are still trying to find Norshield president John Xanthoudakis.

All are accused of conspiring to deliver more than $120 million from Cinar to investment companies in the Bahamas tied to Norshield Financial Group.
