TORONTO — The body of Cory Monteith was reportedly cremated Tuesday in Vancouver, not long after it was released to his family by the coroner’s office.

Monteith’s father Joe, who lives in New Brunswick, told TMZ.com he learned of the cremation only after the fact and is “totally devastated.”

According to the website, the Glee actor’s mother Ann, who lives in Victoria, held a viewing at the hospital with Monteith’s girlfriend Lea Michele and his older brother Shaun.

“I’m saddened at the fact that I couldn’t have been there to see my son before he was cremated,” Joe Monteith, who is long divorced from Cory’s mother, is quoted as saying.

On Monday, he told Globalnews.ca: “I still don’t even know where they’re going to be burying my son.”

People published a statement Tuesday from Michele saying she “has been grieving alongside his family and making appropriate arrangements with them.

“They are supporting each other as they endure this profound loss together.”

Monteith died Saturday in his room at the Fairmont Pacific Rim in Vancouver. He was 31.

A coroner’s report released Tuesday said he died from an overdose of heroin and alcohol.

According to US Weekly, Michele did not know that Monteith, who recently completed a stint at rehab, had relapsed with heroin.
