According to police, a 16-year-old boy who is a student at the school fired at least one shot toward the van shortly after 1 p.m. Thursday afternoon. There were four people in the vehicle, but no one was hurt.

Police say the boy then fled the area. Const. Tony Vella said the boy is known to police, and urged him to turn himself in. Vella also said police have video of the boy on a security camera.

Vella said officers were searching inside and outside the school looking for a weapon, but none was recovered. The hold and secure order was lifted after 3 p.m. when the search concluded.

The boy should be considered armed and dangerous, Vella said.

Officers say a dispute led to the shots being fired, but aren’t certain what aren’t sure what the nature of the confrontation was.
