The annual Major League Baseball All-Star game is set for tonight in New York City.
New York Mets pitcher and hometown favourite Matt Harvey is starting for the National League. Harvey is squaring off against the Detroit Tigers’ Max Scherzer, who is starting for the American League.
One starting player is representing a Canadian team – the Toronto Blue Jays’ right fielder Jose Bautista, playing for the AL. Bautista’s other starting teammates include the Los Angeles Angels’ Mike Trout (left field); the New York Yankees’ Robinson Cano (second base); the Tigers’ Miguel Cabrera (third base); the Baltimore Orioles’ Chris Davis (first base), Adam Jones (centre field), and J.J. Hardy (shortstop); the Boston Red Sox’ David Ortiz (designated hitter); and the Minnesota Twins’ Joe Mauer (catcher).

The NL starting lineup is made up of the Cincinnati Reds’ Joey Votto (first base) and Brandon Phillips (second base); the St. Louis Cards’ Carlos Beltran (right field) and Yadier Molina (catcher); the Mets’ David Wright (third base), the Colorado Rockies’ Carlos Gonzalez (left field), Troy Tulowitzki (shortstop), and Michael Cuddyer (designated hitter); and the Washington Nationals’ Bryce Harper (centre field).
The National League has won the last three All-Star contests. Tonight’s game starts at 8 eastern, and is broadcast on FOX.
